OBEDIENCE CLASS STRUCTURE

6 WEEK INTRODUCTORY COURSE: 

A six week course is available to assist people in teaching their dogs in basic manners. Skills learned will include: walking on a loose lead, making your dog sit, down & stay, coming when called, lying on a mat, teaching the dog to get used to being  handled so that visiting the Vet is a relaxed event and helping with any existing problems.

Simple changes can make training the dog at home so much easier. The club has training equipment available at a cheaper cost than most retailers and by purchasing through our club you can be assured that you get the correct equipment.

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN CLASSES:

Upon completion of the six week course, handlers can undertake a 6 week Canine Good Basic course. Successful trainees will receive a certificate and ribbon and may join the club and take classes in Rally-O, or continue to train in Canine Good Citizen classes starting with Foundation and continue through Bronze, Silver and finally the highest level Gold!!

Completion of each of these CGC levels and a successful assesment will result in the participent receiving a Dog’s New Zealand Certificate for the level completed.

RALLY-O:

Foundation, Novice, Advanced/Excellent.

Handlers must have good control over their dogs and may be required to complete a 6 week training course and a Canine Good Basic Class prior to undertaking Rally-O training. This will depend on the instructors recomendation prior to joining this class.

Advanced and Excellent Rally-O training can be carried out together. This is for those with previous Rally-O experience. 

COMPETITIVE OBEDIENCE: 

For handlers and dogs that have a high level of training and wish to compete in competition. We cater for all levels of competitive training from elementary up to Test C.

Family Membership = Full Member + $10 per each family member ( must reside at same address)

New members who do not enroll for the 6 week introductory course must be assesed by the class co-ordinator or person appointed to undertake assesments.
